Indonesia Distribution
Find Distributors in Indonesia
and Reach 270 Million Consumers
Asia Pro Distribution connects international brands with vetted Indonesian distributors across Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, and beyond. We manage halal compliance, retail introduction, and e-commerce launch in parallel.
Why Indonesia
The Biggest Consumer Market in Southeast Asia
Indonesia is the 4th most populated country in the world and the largest Muslim-majority consumer market. The urban middle class in Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bandung is growing fast and actively buying imported premium products, food, health, beauty, and B2B equipment.
The market is complex: 17,000 islands, 6 major islands with different consumer profiles, a mandatory MUI halal certification (since October 2024 for food), and a retail landscape split between modern trade (Indomaret, Alfamart, Hypermart) and fragmented traditional trade. Getting the right distributor with the right geography matters more here than anywhere else in ASEAN.

How International Brands Reach Indonesian Consumers
Farmers Market / Ranch Market
Premium Import Retail
The top imported food retail channels in Indonesia. Farmers Market (60+ stores, Jakarta and Bali) and Ranch Market target upper-income Indonesian consumers who actively buy imported and international brands.
Indomaret / Alfamart
Convenience at Scale
Combined 35,000+ convenience stores nationwide. The mass market reach channel. Requires MUI halal certification, strong impulse purchase velocity, and a national distributor with Indomaret/Alfamart vendor accounts.
Tokopedia / Shopee ID / Lazada ID
E-commerce: Always an Option
Indonesia is the #1 e-commerce market in ASEAN by GMV. E-commerce is not a secondary channel, it often runs at equal or higher volume than modern retail. We launch e-commerce in parallel with retail, not after. First revenue often comes from Shopee or Tokopedia while retail listing is being negotiated.
TikTok Shop Indonesia
Social Commerce Leader
Indonesia is TikTok Shop’s largest market globally. Live commerce, creator affiliate programs, and viral product drops move significant volume here. Social media reach is directly linked to sales, a brand without Indonesian TikTok presence loses consumers to competitors who have it.
Hypermart / Transmart
Modern Hypermarket
Lippo Group (Hypermart) and Trans Corp (Transmart) hypermarkets. Secondary modern trade after Farmers Market for premium brands, but important for geographic reach beyond Jakarta (Surabaya, Medan, Makassar).
Hotel / Food Service Jakarta
B2B Hospitality
Jakarta’s international hotel sector (Marriott, InterContinental, Four Seasons Bali) and Bali resort supply chain. Strong channel for premium food ingredients, wine (Bali tourist market), and equipment. Different buyer than retail, we introduce to the right food service distributors.
Our Process
How We Launch Your Brand in Indonesia
MUI Halal + BPOM Compliance
Since October 2024, food and beverage products sold in Indonesia require MUI halal certification. BPOM (Indonesia’s FDA equivalent) registration is also mandatory. We map out what you need, timelines, and costs before you invest in Indonesia.
Geography-First Distributor Match
Indonesia is not one market. Jakarta, Surabaya, Bali, Bandung, Medan each have different distribution dynamics. We match you with a distributor whose geographic coverage matches your target islands, not a national distributor who actually only covers Java.
E-commerce First Revenue
We launch on Shopee Indonesia and Tokopedia immediately, no waiting for retail listing. E-commerce is always an option in Indonesia and frequently generates faster revenue than retail. The sales data also accelerates retail buyer meetings.
Social Media + KOL Launch
Indonesia’s 230M social media users require a local content strategy. We manage your TikTok Indonesia brand account, Indonesian-language content, and KOL creator partnerships. Social proof is not cosmetic in Indonesia, it directly drives purchase decisions across all channels.
Brand Materials
Indonesian Distributors Check Your Website and Brochure First
Before any meeting, an Indonesian distributor will check your website, Instagram, and request a product brochure in English (and ideally Bahasa Indonesia). A polished digital presence signals that you are serious and that consumer marketing support will follow.
We audit your materials before introductions and produce what’s missing: brand brochure, Indonesian social media content, and if needed a Bahasa Indonesia landing page for your product range.
- ✓English + Bahasa Indonesia product brochure
- ✓Instagram and TikTok content in Bahasa Indonesia
- ✓MUI halal and BPOM registration documentation
- ✓Shopee / Tokopedia brand store setup and content
FAQ
Common Questions About Indonesia Distribution
Is MUI halal certification now mandatory in Indonesia? +
Yes. As of October 2024, Indonesia’s Halal Product Law requires halal certification (MUI) for all food, beverage, and food supplement products sold in Indonesia. Enforcement is phased, processed food was first, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals follow. Non-compliant products face import blockage at customs. MUI certification typically takes 3 to 6 months. We map out the timeline for your specific product category before you commit to Indonesia.
What is BPOM registration and how long does it take? +
BPOM (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan) is Indonesia’s National Agency of Drug and Food Control. All imported food, supplements, and cosmetics require BPOM registration before sale. Processing time: 2 to 6 months depending on product category. BPOM registration must be done through a local Indonesian importer/distributor, you cannot register directly as a foreign company. Our distributor partners hold BPOM importer status and manage this on your behalf.
Should I start with Jakarta or go national immediately? +
Start with Jakarta (and Bali for tourism-category products). Jakarta accounts for 40%+ of Indonesia’s modern trade volume and is where premium import products are first adopted. A distributor claiming national coverage often means Java only. We match you with a Jakarta-focused distributor first, then expand to Surabaya and beyond when initial velocity is proven. Going national immediately without retail data leads to poor in-store execution across too many SKUs and geographies.
Is e-commerce or retail better for first entry into Indonesia? +
Both, simultaneously. Indonesia’s e-commerce market (USD 77B GMV in 2026) moves faster than retail onboarding. We launch Shopee and Tokopedia stores immediately while retail listing is being negotiated, typically 3 to 6 months for Farmers Market. E-commerce revenue and review data then accelerates the retail buyer conversation. Brands that wait for retail listing before launching e-commerce leave 6 to 12 months of revenue on the table.
